HAPPY CHICK DAYS!
Chick Buying Instructions
PLEASE CHECK THIS PAGE AFTER 5PM THE DAY PRIOR TO THE SALE DATE TO SEE WHAT ARRIVED!
Chick orders will begin at opening (9am) on the day of sale. Customers may show up as early as they like to get in line for purchasing chicks but we will not start serving you until 9AM.
You will receive an order form to fill out for chick supplies, desired breeds, and quantities of chicks. Once at the front of the line, we will confirm your order and let you know if the breeds you want are still available.
There is no limit on how many chicks you may purchase. All sales are first come first served and we do not hold chicks.
Due to our limited space we do not allow customers to hold or pick out chicks prior to sale. We will pick out happy and healthy birds and deliver them to you in a box with nesting material for the ride to their new home.
Chick season typically runs from March through August. We usually get an order each week.
If we sell out of the breeds you want: new chicks can be added in with your previous/current flock. New chicks can be introduced to older chicks up to 2 weeks apart, so you can always add more breeds in.
Special Orders: We will only do special orders on meat birds, unsexed breeds (not bantams), cockerels (roosters), ducks and turkeys.
Refunds: Baby chicks are extremely delicate creatures. Unfortunately you can do EVERYTHING correctly and still lose them for unknown reasons. If this happens to you within the first 24 hours after sale please let us know and we will refund the price of the chick or replace it with a chick from that weeks shipment if our stock allows.
What if I get a Rooster?
Our standard sized chicks are sexed by the hatchery to be female, but because sexing is challenging on these little ones there is a 10% chance you will get a rooster. Bantam sized chicks are not sexed and have a much higher percentage of roosters. Exceptions to this are sex-linked chicks which are more than 99% accurate. These usually say “sex-linked” in their description.
We do not take back roosters. If you get a rooster we are happy to have you place a flier in our store to rehome them.
